Nurse coaches work with the whole person using principles and modalities that integrate body-mind-emotion-spirit-environment to promote health, wellness, and wellbeing while they facilitate their client’s growth and healing. Nurse coaches are supportive and encouraging, building on the client’s strengths rather than attempting to correct weaknesses. Nurse coaches provide guidance and resources to the client who is the expert on their own needs and choices.

Health & Wellness Coaching Services Provided by a Board Certified Nurse Coach

~Personalized Support for Positive Change~

How can Health and Wellness Coaching with a board certified Nurse Coach assist your patients/clients as well as your practice?

Person centered positive lifestyle change~

There is no one size fits all when it comes to making positive lifestyle changes. We partner with each patient to hear their story, work together to set achievable SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time based) based on desired health and wellness goals and your plan of care, explore/address challenges using motivational interviewing and readiness assessment techniques, and find a path forward that is attainable and realistic within the patient’s own unique needs and lifestyle.

Understanding health and wellness needs~

Coaching sessions offer education to assist patients in understanding aspects of their personal health information, as well as their medical provider's plan of care, supporting individuals in following clinical advice for managing their condition through lifestyle changes such as increasing activity, focusing on nutrition, or quitting smoking, and offering tools and resources as needed.

Healthy support and accountability~

With coaching sessions, we provide healthy accountability while recognizing possibilities and potential, assisting in navigating changes, and building on strengths in a positive, judgement free environment- offering ongoing support and always celebrating success!

Education and guidance on the importance of self care~

Engaging in self care activities is an important component of health and wellness and can positively impact physical and emotional health.  Coaching offers education and tools to explore and incorporate holistic self care practices including stress reduction, mindfulness, eating hygiene, sleep hygiene, meditation, breathwork, positive self-talk and other modalities.

Partnership with provider~

As directed by patient and provider with initiation of nurse coaching services, we work directly with practice providers and staff to implement the initial and ongoing plan of care and provide communication on patient’s progress and additional care coordination as needed.

And so much more!

Integrative Nurse Coaching can improve patient outcomes utilizing a whole person, relationship centered approach to educate, empower and motivate patients to engage in wellness behaviors, make positive behavioral changes, improve resilience to health challenges and explore/address barriers to success.

What Makes our Health and Wellness Coaching Services Different?

I am both a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and Board Certified Integrative Nurse Coach (NC-BC).  This means that along with being a Registered Nurse, I also have received in depth training, accrued supervised and independent experience working with clients and have sat for board certification to earn both designations.

My Health and Wellness Coaching journey began in 2014 after completing training through UNC Greensboro, followed by training through the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy (INCA) receiving board certification as an Integrative Nurse Coach.

Most recently I have received specialized training in functional medicine, completing the Functional Medicine for Nurses™ A Root Cause Approach to Health & Healing course through the Integrative Nurse Coaching Academy in partnership with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), as well as earned designation as a Lifestyle Medicine Certified Coach with training through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine® (ACLM) in partnership with Wellcoaches®.

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine® defines the six pillars of lifestyle medicine as a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections.  Lifestyle medicine offerings are available with our existing services.
